FAQs

Q. What is the temperature inside a container when a ship carrying a container at sea transits the equator?
A. When containers are stowed under deck, it is known empirically that their inside temperatures are dependent on seawater temperatures. The air temperatures inside containers range, at highest, from 30 to 35 degrees centigrade at highest, even if the ship transits the equator. On the other hand, when containers are carried on deck (particularly, when containers are carried TopStow or Sidestow), they are subject to the effects of sunlight. The temperatures inside containers rise in association with the outside air temperature and sunlight, where the effects of sunlight are dominant. Accordingly, the notion that "the inside temperatures of containers carried onboard a ship transiting the equator rise in association with the rise of outside atmospheric air temperatures" is not wrong, but it is considered better to understand that the temperatures inside containers carried onboard a ship transiting the equator are likely to assume nearly the same temperatures that are reached when on-shore containers are exposed to sunlight.

Q. I would like to have humidity data.
A. Humidity inside a container is dependent upon the following variables:
* moisture quantity of cargo and package like cardboard boxes
* whether or not pallets are used
* ambient atmospheric temperatures
* solar heat input
* wind force and speed
* stowage of containers on board the ship
* pre-loading stowed position at a container yard
* storage period at a container yard
* color of exterior paint of container
* dead space in the container
For the reasons above and why it is possible to be misread if conditions which accord with them above correctly are not used, humidity data cannot be provided, although we do have such data.

Q. What kind of meter did you use measurement temperature?
A. Though a few kinds of meters were used, typical meter is as follows.

Temp. Ran: |50°`{120°
Resolution: 0.1°
Precision: }0.2°(-35`+39.9°)
}0.4°(+40`+120°)
Memory: 55,000 data
Measurement interval: 2 sec.`24hr. (standard measurement: setting 30min`1 hr.)

Q. Is it correct that the shock value of the floor in a container is considerble?
A. The shock value changes under various conditions which include but are not limited to the following;
transportation, transport path, cargo content, cargo weight, cargo packing style, the method used for cargo stuffing, and road conditions. In addition, the size varies depending on the location where the measuring instrument is installed in a container, and sometimes several decade gravity (G) may be recorded.
Even if the numerical value of the measured shock value is sizable, the energy of the shock given to cargoes, etc. is not entirely great as the time (milli-second) is very short in which the shock affects the container and cargo. And, the shock which the cargo receives decreases noticeably depending on how the cushion packaging is carried out.

Q. What kind of meter did you use measurement shock?
A. Though a few kinds of meters were used, typical meter is as follows.

The rated acceleration: The inside 500m/s²
The outside 500m/s² , 2000m/s²
The acceleration measurement direction: The inside: Three direction(Vertical, Lateral, Longitudinal)
The outside: Three channel
The trigger acceleration level: 5,10,25,50,100 m/s²
Trigger deletion: 0`50msec
Dead time: 0,1,6,300,600,1800,3600sec
Memory: The time series peak acceleration: 1000 points(TYPE1)C2000 points(TYPE2)
The accelerogram record: The waveform in epistasis 1015 points of the peak acceleration(TYPE1),
  The waveform in epistasis 200 points of the peak acceleration(TYPE2)
Measurement interval: 0.35,0.5,1,5,25,50msec

Q. In the data under navigation why the impact is not almost being generated.
Is the reason based on the sensitivity of the measuring instrument?
A. It is a reason to be often lower than set trigger level.
When it is loading and unloading work of the container. There is the high possibility in which large impact is generated.

Q. We cannot find the data that we want.
A. MTI has a wealth of data accumulated since 1987. Send your inquires to Technical Strategy Group (Person in charge: Kondo at Phone:+81-3-5222-7560) contacting direct or through email.

Q. Is there a schedule, which opens the data of the vibration to public?
A. In the current, there is no schedule which opens the data to public.
Design must be changed on the part system in order to open as a database to public.
It is considered that surely, it useful for the package design of vibrational data.
It inquires to our company, when in this case, it observed the impact data of the database, and when there was only, and it is given.
