Human resources development/NYK Business College

This is a general designation for training programs aimed at developing business leaders with the high levels of expertise and broad perspectives needed for pursuing active roles in the world.

Summary

MTI conducts human resources development for the employees of Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) and affiliated companies, not only employees at companies in Japan but also employees at companies outside Japan. We called this training system the NYK Business College, and it aims to develop business leaders with the high levels of expertise and broad perspectives needed for pursuing active roles in the world.

Content of the programs

For the employees of Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) and affiliated domestic companies, the NYK Business College offers about 50 training programs under 11 categories: New Employees, NYK Group Values, Core Business Skills, Communication Skills, Business English, Finance & Business Skills, Sales & Marketing, Management, Computers, Risk Management & Compliance, and Career Development. The employees of foreign affiliated companies are additionally offered programs such as Global NYK Week and the Global Senior Management Program, which extend invitations to visit Japan and participate in one-week intensive programs.

Training facility

NYK maintains its own Tobitakyu Training Center in Chofu (a small city in Greater Tokyo). This sophisticated training facility accommodates up to 40 participants and allows them to concentrate on their training in a quiet environment away from their offices.
