Internet Fleet Remote Monitoring System [i-FROM] for overseas vessels
  This system monitors the movements of marine vessels on the Internet website.
General

This fleet remote monitoring system has a basic feature to obtain the position of a ship automatically with the Inmarsat-C equipped on the ship, and displays the position visually on the website using popularly available web browser software. The system provides the ETA instant calculation function, which calculates the estimated time of arrival to the port of destination from the present position of the vessel instantly, and the navigation route display function, which shows the past routes of navigation on the monitor. As an optional feature, atmospheric and marine weather data obtained from Japan Weather Association can be displayed over the FROM image.

Features

Since the position of a ship can be obtained automatically using the Inmarsat-C equipped on the ship, the crews of the ships do not need to provide the data.
No dedicated software is necessary. You can monitor the positions of ships using generally available web browser software.
The system enables you to calculate instantly the estimated time of arrival from the present position to the port of destination.
The past navigation route can be displayed on the monitor by designating the date.
Main functions

Fleet position display function
Obtaining position data (latitude, longitude, navigation speed and course), the system displays the data on the map.
Instant calculation of the estimated time of arrival (ETA) function
The system calculates the ETA from the present position of a ship to the port of destination instantly.
Navigation route display function
The past navigation route can be displayed on the monitor by designating the date.

Q: Is it necessary to install dedicated communication equipment on the ship?
A: No equipment is necessary other than the Inmarsat-C (that supports polling/Data reporting services) which is already equipped on the ship.
