Warehouse Managing System
This system uses RFID in warehouses to link information on loaded pallets with information on warehouse locations in real time, and automates the registration of forklift work records.
Summary
The system, which automates the working records of forklifts in warehouses, functions as outlined below:
- IC tags are attached to warehouse shelves and floor surfaces, as well as to pallets.
- A vehicle-mounted terminal (PC) is fitted near the operator's seat on the forklift; the terminal's software processes information from RFID readers (antennas) fitted to the front and bottom of the forklift, and also from a position-detecting sensor fitted to the lift.
- Readers fitted to the forklift read the tag information on each pallet, as well as the tag information on shelves or floor surfaces, and automatically recognize both the pallet and its location.
- The forklift-mounted terminal links cargo information and positional information of the pallet in real time, and transmits all the information to a database via wireless LAN.
- The working time of the forklift operator is reduced.
- Data-input errors that tend to occur during manual operations are prevented.
- The database is automatically updated.
- Information on where cargo is located within the warehouse can be acquired and shared in real time.
Features
- Shelf-tag system: The front reader fitted to the forklift reads the shelf tag and the pallet tag at the same time. → This single reader is easily installed.
- Floor-tag system: The floor reader fitted to the bottom of the forklift reads the floor tag, and the height sensor on the lift recognizes the tier (applicable to flat-stacking warehouses as well). → Can reduce the number of tags needed for complete location management.
