Rakuraku Ladder Noboru-kun
We developed this movable ladder for use in the holds of Handy bulkers (bulk carriers of about 23,000 to 58,000 deadweight tons).
Summary
To date, various methods have been employed to conduct post-cleaning inspections of hard-to-reach areas prior to cargo loading. These methods include the use of fixed ladders, scaffolding, and baskets suspended from cranes. But these methods all require a great deal of time, labor, and expense.
The new ladder was developed to make this work safe and easy. Its design, which combines a ladder with a wheeled platform, helps to make work more efficient.

Features
- Easy assembly/disassembly (three people together can handle this task in about 20 minutes).
- Ease of movement (moves on a wheeled platform within a hold; is lifted and carried by crane when moved between holds).
- Compact size. When disassembled, the platform (ladder removed) measures only two meters square and one meter high, which facilitates shipboard storage.
