Successful Sea-Carriage Test of Water Bags: A Major Step towards Practical Use

December 12, 2007

Monohakobi Technology Institute (MTI) and the Japan Water Agency jointly conducted a sea-carriage test using water bags of about 1,000 m3 capacity from October 22 to 24, 2007, on a route from the Port of Shingu (Shingu City, Wakayama Prefecture) to the Port of Tomioka (Anan City, Tokushima Prefecture), and confirmed successful results.

The water quality in the bag was compared before leaving Shingu and upon arrival at Tomioka. It was inspected by a specialized institution (regarding 50 substances listed in city water standards), and was found to not exceed the upper permissible amount in any respect as detailed in the attached data, although slight increases in measured values were observed for a few of the substances.

The results of supplementary water tests conducted after the carrier's return to Shingu are also appended (PDF file, 52 kb).
