DFFAS+ (Designing the Future of Fully Autonomous Ships Plus) is a consortium aiming to acheive a production-ready autonomous navigation system through demonstration tests and standardization efforts as part of the second stage of the Nippon Foundation's MEGURI2040 project.

MODE Lab (Maritime and Ocean Digital Engineering Laboratory) was established at the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences, The University of Tokyo. The project aims to build a common simulation platform in the maritime industry using tools like Model Based System Engineering (MBSE).
