Improving Transportation Quality
Background
Providing quality transport is a universal challenge at monohakobi, since maritime transportation involves long periods at sea, the transport environment changes according to various factors such as the weather and sea conditions from day to day, and it is necessary to respond accordingly. In addition to maritime transportation, the entire supply chain involves land transportation, cargo handling, and storage in yards and warehouses, each of which carries a potential risk of damage depending on the environment. To reduce the risk of such damage, MTI is conducting R&D based on the knowledge accumulated by the NYK Group to date, including data collection through the measurement of the transportation environment utilizing IoT technology, visualization of the transportation environment based on accumulated data, and studying measures to improve transportation quality utilizing simulation technology.
Expected Deliverables
- Studying optimal transportation, lashing, and cargo handling methods considering cargo characteristics
- Applying simulation and optimization technology to maximize operational efficiency
- Reducing the workload of ocean-going ships and operators by utilizing digital technology and AI
- Developing and implementing solutions and systems related to the above
